Performance-Driven Project Management
Overview
Successful projects do not happen by fate; however, many organizations
often leave the outcomes of key projects to chance by relying on
the individual expertise of project managers and teams. As organizations
place increasing emphasis on team-based project initiatives to deliver
value to their customers, employees and shareholders, the importance
of delivering project on-time, in-full and to budget plays and increasing
role in contributing to the organizations overall success. However,
without a common methodology to organize, manage and deliver projects,
these organizations find it difficult to manage or predict successful
project outcomes.
The Performance-Driven Project (PDP) Workshop is designed
as a 1 to 2 day, instructor-led course that provides participants
with an integrated and standardized process for managing projects
of all types and scale. Based on the observable business needs of
clients, this workshop is designed to teach the importance and benefits
of utilizing a common project management methodology, integrating
project management with other business processes, and developing
the Six Components of a Performance-Driven Project.
Course Objectives:
- Learn what projects are, how they are derived, and how they
impact an organization.
- Understand the concepts and components of a Performance-Driven
Project and the benefits of incorporating into the project
management process.
- Understand project management as a process, define the major
phases of a project and practice applying these steps to organize,
manage and deliver a project
- Learn how to develop the project scope and effectively deal
with scope changes while gaining expertise and applying project
management skills required to monitor, control and report project
status throughout the project lifecycle.
- Gain skill in applying standard processes and methods that compliment
your organization's needs.
The Performance-Driven Project Workshop
The Performance-Driven Project Workshop provides the core
knowledge base that course participants will leverage to create
a standardized methodology that combines generally accepted project
management practices with the activities that make their projects
unique. Subject-matter-experts (SME's) will work collaboratively
to create details of their Performance-Driven Project process,
which provides all project stakeholders with a common process of
operation, view of progress and expectation of results throughout
the project lifecycle.
Module 1: Projects in Organizations
The workshop begins with establishing a shared mindset of project
parameters.
Module 2: Six Components of a Performance-Driven
Project
Participants explore the 6 Components of a Performance-Driven
Project.
Module 3: APECS - The Process of Project
Management
The APECS Model is built upon five standard and distinct phases
of the project lifecycle.
Participants navigate the APECS Model through application of
the newly acquired project management skills in a variety of exercises
that simulate a project environment.
Module 4: Project Management Toolbox
Standardized sub processes are learned to enable project teams
to undertake these activities with a common, predictable and reproducible
